 COMMON CONDITIONS CHIROPRACTIC HELPS

Many times when I am adjusting a patient, they will say to me, "Doc, I had no idea that you could help this problem." This article is about a few common conditions that we can help at our clinic, as well as a few that you may not realize Chiropractors can help.

Most people understand that Chiropractors help back pain, neck pain and headaches. The most common condition we see is low back pain. I have seen statistics that six out of ten people have suffered with low back pain in their lifetime. The most common vertebra that becomes misaligned and pinches a nerve in the low back, is the bottom vertebra in the spine, or lumbar 5. When a vertebra becomes misaligned in the spine, it often pinches a nerve, causing pain. This is called a subluxation. If you have pain in the center of your low back at the belt line, there is a very good chance that you have a lumbar 5 subluxation.

The second most common conditions we work with are mid back pain, headaches, and neck pain. Vertebrae in the neck and mid back often get out of alignment and pinch nerves. Many people with chronic headaches don't realize that their headaches are stemming from a pinched nerve in their neck. Hip pain, numbness and tingling in the hands and feet, dizziness and vertigo are all common conditions we also work with at our clinic.

How about the conditions a Chiropractor can help that you did not realize? Well, if your health problem is coming from a pinched nerve in your spine, chances are that we can help it. Things like heartburn, acid reflux, constipation, IBS, and chest pain can all stem from a pinched nerve. This is because every organ in the human body is controlled by a nerve, and if that nerve is pinched the organ may not function properly.

When a new patient comes in to our clinic, we first do a thorough health history. Then we do an examination of the spine and nerves. If necessary, we will take a spinal x-ray. After analyzing this information we will do an adjustment. The adjustment is a special procedure that realigns the misaligned vertebra, and removes the nerve pressure. Once the pressure is off the nerve, the pain will go away and the organ it controls will work properly.
